Daniel E. Ruiz Branch Library
Austin, TX
The 16,000 sf Daniel E. Ruiz Branch Library integrates a significant number of sustainable features with dynamic, user-friendly
space, earning a three-star Green Building rating, the first public
building in Austin to do so. Twice the size of previous branch facilities, this library accommodates several programs for advancing community education in internet and computer technologies. A large meeting room with multiple configurations enables a diverse range of functions for community events, while a central clerestory space lit primarily with diffused daylight provides a pleasant space for book collections and reading areas. The facility is popular with users
and was named “Best Public Building in Austin for 2004” by
the Austin Chronicle.
With Duffy Stanley, FAIA and Liz Salaiz, AIA.
